Stay Connected
As we reach the end of our reporting period for our “Honoring Our Mission to Serve Veterans” year, please remember, even after you do your year-end report our mission continues. We don’t want to lose the momentum you created and the bonds you built with the youth in your community! Continue including the youth in activities moving forward.
- April 22 – Earth Day – On this day you want to draw attention to the condition the environment is in and what can we do to help. This is a great opportunity to involve the youth! Try walking around your community and picking up trash.
- April 30 – Arbor Day – It’s purpose is to encourage people to plant trees. Your Auxiliary, along with a youth group could plant a tree or trees in honor of veterans from your community.
Many Posts and Auxiliaries are starting to plan their Memorial Day ceremonies. This is an opportunity to educate the youth and have them help as we commemorate those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for their country. Ask the high school band to participate and play music during the event. The local scouts can carry flags. Maybe even have a contest for the best float by a youth group.
Be sure you recognize the groups of youth you work with. The fillable form can be found on the Resources page.
- Your Department Chairman will verify the information and then forward to National to request the Citation.
- The deadline for the request is April 20, 2021
- They are FREE
Book Donations
There is still time for you to donate a book to your local school or library in honor of National President Sandi. You are welcome to download and print a label to put on the inside of the book. If possible, I would love to have you send me a photo of your Auxiliary donating the book. Thank you to the many Department Chairmen and Auxiliaries that have already sent me a photo! I am asking to receive all photos by June 1, 2021.
I received the following question regarding the Illustrating America Contest:
Q: If a student placed National for this contest last year are they eligible to participate again this year?
A: If the student is in a different grade division, yes they would be eligible. Ex: Last year they were in 5th grade and placed Nationally. This year they would be in the 6-8th grade and would be eligible to enter again.
The support you give the youth in your community will motivate them as they become leaders of tomorrow and encourage the continued support of our veterans.
