February Holiday Youth Opportunities
Presidents Day is February 21st. Honoring Abraham Lincoln and George Washington, just to name a few presidents.
- Abraham Lincoln said, “Don’t worry when you are not recognized, but strive to be worthy of recognition.”
It looks like President Lincoln would have been surprised that the VFW Auxiliary gives out Patriotic Youth Awards. These awards are designed to recognize individual youth for their patriotism and/or support of our veterans, service members and their families.
- George Washington said, “I conceive that a knowledge of books is the basis upon which other knowledge is to be built.”
President Washington would certainly have enjoyed knowing that the VFW Auxiliary has a Patriotism through Literacy Suggested Book List. Reading fosters a love of books that leads to a lifetime of learning.
Youth Groups Supporting our Veterans citations, Patriotic Youth Awards and the Patriotism through Literacy Suggested Book List can be found at vfwauxiliary.org/resources under Youth Activities.
It’s already the second month of 2022 and we’re halfway through our year of service together. Let’s continue to push forward and inspire the youth of our time to love and serve the veterans around us who so selflessly serve us.
