VFW Statement on Comedian Kathy Griffin
WASHINGTON (May 31, 2017) — “The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S. strongly condemns comedian Kathy Griffin’s incredibly revolting attack on the President of the United States. Her apology is not accepted. What she did was not humorous nor should it be protected speech or expression. Playing to an audience with a severed head is what our enemies do. The USO should immediately end its relationship with her.” — VFW National Commander Brian Duffy
(June 2, 2017) The USO has informed the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S. that although comedian Kathy Griffin had performed several USO tours in the past, they have not had any relationship with her for a number of years. The VFW appreciates this information and apologizes for mentioning them in our May 31 press release.
