“Patriotism, as defined by many, is pride or support of one’s nation; however, what is often overlooked is the lifelong commitment that patriotism frequently entails. It’s the boy or girl who puts on a cape with tall dreams of becoming a hero. It’s the young man or woman who enlists to serve with their ambition trailing close behind. It’s the aged veteran who looks back on their youthful self, and smiles with content knowing what they’ve accomplished. Patriotism is a call to those who want to make a difference and become a legacy to those who are brave enough to answer. With this drawing, I give thanks to the men and women who knew how to pursue a dream, and in doing so, gave their service for the betterment of all.” – Kira Fennell
