We Helped Make Dreams Come True!
Program Goal #1: Student Participation
We BELIEVED we could and we did! Together we helped make the dreams of many students come true. I don’t know how many lives we touched or entries we received in each of our scholarship programs, but by the reports I received I believe you all did your best to reach every student in your communities.
Start promoting the contests again now! Give students the summer months to complete essays, speeches and art projects when their schedules are less hectic and they have more time to focus. A few things to note:
- The 2019-2020 theme for both Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen is “What Makes America Great.”
- National Headquarters will release a NEW Patriotic Art Contest brochure in July, so please discard any old brochures and applications you may have. Place your order for this brochure AFTER July 1 to ensure you receive the new brochure and application.
Program Goal #2: Recipient Recognition
Please recognize every student who participated in the Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest. Those who did not advance to the Department and National Levels should be recognized and encouraged to participate next year if they will still be eligible.
I am anxious to see the art entries from all Departments at National Convention. If you are attending National Convention, PLEASE stop in and view all the awesome works of art then go home and tell everyone all about it! Spread your enthusiasm for the Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest.
Program Goal #3: Community Awareness
Through your Family Freedom Festivals and Community outreach Projects you showed your communities who we are and what we do. Keep up the good work and start planning your next event now.
Program Goal #4: Increasing Awards For National Young American Creative Patriotic Art Endowment Fund
As of April 30, 2019, together we have raised $14,970.30 for the Young American Creative Patriotic Art Endowment Fund! Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Unfortunately, we were not able to meet our goal. We all realize there are many needs in our communities and our bank accounts get stretched very thin at times. I am proud of our accomplishments and every penny we earn gets us that much closer to National Award #9!
I am honored to have been given the privilege of serving as your 2018-2019 National Scholarships Ambassador. I am proud of the accomplishments we made together as members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. Thank you all for your love and friendship.
