National President To Welcome Guests
NEW ORLEANS – July 24, 2017 – Today marks the third day of the VFW Auxiliary National Convention. National President Colette Bishop will honor Mary Ligon, founder of the Coffee Bunker in Tulsa, Oklahoma, a safe place for veterans to heal from their unseen wounds. Ligon will receive the Unwavering Support for Uncommon Heroes® Award for her work on behalf of veterans struggling with mental health.
Guests will also include friends from the VFW National Home, the VFW Veterans Village and allied guest Military Order of the Cooties Auxiliary Supreme President LeeAnn Lam.
The 2016-2017 National Ambassadors will present the National Program Awards for the following programs: Veterans & Family Support; Americanism; Chief of Staff/Extension; Hospital; Legislative; Membership & Leadership; Scholarships and Youth Activities.
Approximately 2,500 members are attending Convention, which runs through Wednesday.
