NATIONAL PRESIDENT TO PRESIDE OVER 106th NATIONAL CONVENTION
Orlando, Fla. — July 20, 2019 – National President Sandi Kriebel, a Life Member of Yingling-Ridgely Auxiliary 7472, located in Ellicott City, Md. begins presiding over the 106th National Convention of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Auxiliary at the Orange County Convention Center here today (July 20).
A highlight of the convention will be the annual Circle of Excellence Ceremony tonight, where 36 Department (state) presidents will be honored for their leadership during the 2018-2019 year.
On Monday, July 22, awards for members’ hard work will be presented in each of the 10 national programs.
On Tuesday, July 23, VFW Commander-in-Chief B.J. Lawrence will visit members for the last time in that position, special guests will appear before the members and proposed resolutions and revisions to the VFW Auxiliary National Bylaws will be presented.
On Wednesday, July 24, the election and installation of incoming National President Peggy Haake, a Life Member of Wilbert Wah Hu Tom Auxiliary 3850, and the other 2019-2020 National Officers will conclude the convention and bring Kriebel’s term to an end.
Other highlights include the opportunity for members to view the Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest winning artwork from 48 states and entries in the “Buddy”® Poppy display contest, in addition to several joint events with the VFW, such as the Joint Opening Session and Patriotic Celebration.
During the convention, National President Kriebel will commend the 2,500 attendees for their hard work honoring veterans and supporting deployed military personnel and their families. Members raised millions of dollars and volunteered millions of hours helping the heroes of our country this year.
The National President also will thank members for volunteering more than 600,000 hours in the nation’s hospitals and for providing more than $6.2 million in monetary donations, goods and services to help veterans, active-duty service members and their families.
President Kriebel has also given monetary gifts to Help Heal Veterans, The Bay Pines Foundation and other worthy causes.
