Tools You Can Use to Talk to a Potential Member
Millions of people across our great nation and its territories were affected by natural disasters in September. Wildfires in the western states and hurricanes in Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands caused a great deal of damage in these areas. Many Posts, Auxiliaries and Departments stepped up to the plate to help those affected by these disasters. In order to continue helping our veterans, their families and our communities in their time of need, we need to make sure we have strong Auxiliaries with plenty of members willing and able to help; we need to invite and sign up every eligible person for the VFW Auxiliary.
This comes easy to some. For others, it can be scary to talk with an acquaintance or someone you donât know and ask them to join our organization. There are some great tools on the National Organizationâs website that can help you talk to someone about joining the VFW Auxiliary.
On the Program & Publicity Resources Page, under âPublicity Tools, Websites & Social Media,â check out the following fliers that give quick facts and can help you start a conversation with a potential member.
- Facts Leaflet
- Elevator Speech/What We Do
- National Talking Points
- Local Talking Points
Be sure to check out all the Membership Recruitment & Retention Resources to help you in your efforts as well. I suggest reviewing âRecruitment Booth Pointersâ prior to your next membership drive. Another great resource is your Departmentâs National Certified Recruiter Trainer. If you have the opportunity, I encourage you to attend one of their training classes.
MALTA is up and running for the entire membership. I have heard a ton of positive comments from Auxiliary Treasurers about how easy and fast entering membership is and Membership Chairmen are enjoying checking membership statistics. If you havenât sent a dues notice yet, I encourage you to use the dues notice available in MALTA. Make sure your Annual Members know they can pay their own dues in MALTA. Check out the new tools that are available to help you with your duties and see why everyone is so excited about MALTA. Need help with MALTA? Check out the training videos on the Online Auxiliary Academy or contact the MALTA support line at 1.800.349.3670 or email support@vfwauxiliary.org.
Keep up the great work and remember, it all starts with each of us recruiting âJust One.â
