Service in the Season of Giving
I would like to take this for the opportunity to express my appreciation for the incredible work that you are doing.
Though it is the holiday season, we still have some pressing business to attend to. The VFW has issued an Action Alert about pending legislation which would have a harmful and long-lasting impact on our veterans. Please see below:
Congressman Doug Lamborn (R-Colo.) recently introduced a bill that would break our promise to veterans. H.R. 4457, the Veterans Empowerment Act, would dismantle the VA health care system, charge veterans for service-connected health care, and reduce VA to an insurance program for veterans. Congressman Lamborn and bill cosponsors, Congressmen Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) and Trent Franks (R-Ariz.), must not be allowed to advance this dangerous proposal. Urge your member of Congress to oppose H.R. 4457, and let Congress know if they cannot take care of America’s veterans, then they should stop creating them. Click here to take action!
In addition, the VFW Action Corps is happy to announce that the number of subscribers from the Auxiliary is on the rise! Since July 1, 2017, there have been more than 750 new subscribers from our ranks. We have come a long way and our efforts have been recognized by the VFW. However, our work is not done.
We must continue to encourage our members to join the VFW Action Corps. This is our platform for mobilizing the grassroots so that our voices are heard in Washington, D.C. Our goal is to make a difference and help ensure that good legislation is passed and bad legislation is defeated. In this season of giving, we should all express our gratitude for the opportunity we have to be an important part of something much bigger than ourselves. There is no greater gift that we can give than our time, talents and our service to those who faithfully protect and defend those wonderful freedoms and liberties that we enjoy each day.
