2018 VFW Priority Goals
Our Washington, D.C. office allows us to monitor all legislation affecting veterans, alert VFW membership to key legislation under consideration and to actively lobby Congress and the administration on veterans’ issues.
Our National Legislative Service establishes the VFW’s legislative priorities and advocates on veterans’ behalf. By testifying at congressional committee hearings and interacting with congressional members, the VFW has played an instrumental role in nearly every piece of veterans’ legislation passed since the beginning of the 20th Century.
Everything we do on Capitol Hill is with the VFW’s Priority Goals and veterans’ well-being in mind. With the strength of the more than 1.7 million members of the VFW and VFW Auxiliary, our voice on Capitol Hill cannot be ignored!
The VFW has recently released their 2018 VFW Priority Goals. The Priority Goals Brochure identifies the major policy goals and legislative priorities of the VFW. These goals include the following issues
- Budget
- Work Force Development and Accountability
- Health Care
- Compensation and Benefits
- Education, Employment and Transition Assistance
- Defense and Homeland Security
- Military Quality of Life
- POW/MIA
Please click HERE to see where the VFW stands on these issues.
Familiarizing yourself with the issues will prepare you to discuss them with the congressional members in your district. When you visit your congressional representatives, please stress these are the issues we will be fighting for in the 115th Congress. These goals reflect the resolutions passed and supported by the men and women of the VFW and VFW Auxiliary.

CALL TO ACTION: Support Today’s Veterans & Military.
Help us ensure an adequate VA system will be there for the millions of current and future veterans. Contact your congressional members and tell them to do what is right by those who have defended and are still defending our freedom by ending sequestration and passing the budget to fund the Department of Defense and Veterans Administration. Our nation made a promise to those who serve, and we fight to ensure it is kept!
Let’s help our VFW Comrades take the “Hill” at the upcoming VFW Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C. on March 6- 7, 2018. If you are unable to attend, please visit the VFW website (www.vfw.org) on March 7, when our Commander-in-Chief Keith Harman’s testimony before the Joint Veterans Affairs Committee will be streamed live.
Thank you for all you have done and continue to do for our veterans, service members and their families.
