Get Involved, Energize Your Auxiliary Members
It’s hard to believe we are halfway through the 2016-2017 program year. Thanksgiving has passed and Christmas and New Years are fast approaching. Now is the time to get energized and ask every member to get involved as we strive to reach the 100% membership goal.
We have recruited many new members this year and it is important to include all of them in planning Auxiliary events and supporting our programs to assist all veterans and their families.
How do we get our new and current members involved?
- Ask them to help.
- Show them how to get involved.
- Be positive! Positivity is the greatest benefit to our Auxiliaries and members.
- Be thankful for their support and recognize them with the âGood Job Award.â
Remember, they are volunteering their time, and acknowledging their efforts is important.
Now is also a great time to give your Auxiliary a checkup. All of us visit our family doctor, dentist, and health care providers to keep ourselves in top-notch condition. A âHealthy Checkupâ can earn your Auxiliary the âCertificate of Good Health.â
Please review the tools in the âHealthy Auxiliary Toolkit.â They are designed to help your Auxiliary be successful with all of your Auxiliary projects and programs.
- R U Healthy Checklist
- Member Questionnaire
- Good Job Award
- Healthy Communications Phone/Text Tree
- Auxiliary Meeting Clinic/Checklist
- Sample Meeting Agenda
- Healthy Auxiliary Certificate
- VFW Auxiliary Meeting Challenges & Solutions
Note: All of these tools are available on the Resource Page of the VFW Auxiliary website.
Also, review Mentoring at VFW Auxiliary: Relationship Building for the Future. Mentoring has proven to be an effective tool to involve and energize members, and it creates a positive image of the VFW Auxiliary in our communities.
Using these tools and mentoring tips makes your Auxiliary stronger. When we energize and involve all of our members, we are developing prospective officers and chairmen, who will be become our future leaders. It is important to stay positive, communicate and demonstrate healthy attitudes. We are committed to our tag line âUnwavering Support for Uncommon HeroesÂź.â How we treat people ultimately tells all about us â ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING!
I wish all of you happy holidays, a very Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year.
