Things to Remember in Times of Transition
It’s May and that means all VFW Auxiliaries have held their Elections and Installation of Officers prior to their Department Conventions.
Important things to remember:
As we transition from one year to another, please remember the 5 Essentials of an Auxiliary.
These are the basic essentials:
- Your Auxiliary needs to hold at least ten (10) meetings a year and have a quorum (five) of members in good standing shall be present. (see Section 210 and 212)
- Dues shall be paid on at least ten (10) members by February 1 of the current year. (see Section 207)
- Up-to-date with submission of quarterly audits by Trustees. (see Section 814)
- Officers elected, installed and reported to National Headquarters no later than June 30.
- The offices of President and Treasurer MUST be bonded by August 31 of the current year. (see Section 814)
If you plan to attend National Convention in Charlotte this year, do not forget to register early at http://vfwauxiliary.org/national-convention/. National Convention is a wonderful opportunity to meet Auxiliary members from across the country and you will learn so much more about our great organization and what it has to offer our members.
Our membership numbers are increasing each and every day, thanks to you, the members of this great organization! As of the end of April, we have welcomed 17,150 men into our VFW Auxiliary family. Let’s keep going and not stop now.
Please keep sending out your dues reminders mailed to your auxiliary members. Remember we need to:
- RETAIN ONE MEMBER
- REJOIN ONE MEMBER
- RECRUIT ONE MEMBER
- RECRUIT MALE MEMBERS
I hope that all Auxiliaries have received a Good Job Certificate and Health Certificate for their Auxiliaries from their Chiefs of Staff.
This has been great year for National President Francisca Guilford, Auxiliary programs and most importantly, for for Our Veterans – Now and Forever. I wish all incoming VFW Auxiliary Officers a successful and wonderful year in 2016-2017. Keep on truckin’ – AND KEEP RECRUITING!!!
