VFW National Home for Children
I am so excited that our National President Sandi Kriebel has selected her special project for the year and guess what program it is? It’s the VFW National Home for Children! While Sandi was conducting a meeting last year at the National Home, she and members of her committee noticed that the Guest Lodge kitchen was outdated and very cold (this meeting occurred in the winter). She decided it was time for a kitchen remodel. It is now my honor to ask you to work a little harder to make this happen. The kitchen is a vital room at the guest lodge. It is a commercial kitchen and is used when visitors stay at the National Home and many Departments use the kitchen when they have their activities at the National Home. The kitchen is in desperate need of the following new items:
- commercial stove/oven
- dishwasher
- countertops
- cabinets
- backsplash
- windows
- inspection and/or update to the HVAC system.
Please contact Sue Alverson at 800-424-8360 to discuss ways your Auxiliary and/or Department can help raise funds for this project. Earmark checks “National President’s Special Project” and send monetary donations to:

FUNdraiser Idea
How about a scavenger hunt on the VFW National Home website? Select 10-20 different pieces of information that can be found on the website such as, “Who is the President of the Board of Trustees?” Type it up, determine an entry fee, set a deadline and distribute to participants. Have a small prize for the first return and 100 percent correct. Raise money and have an educational game. It’s a win-win!
Don’t Forget! National Home Life Member fees increase from $35.00 to $50.00 on January 1, 2019. Become a Life Member of the National Home today! Applications can be found on the National Home website.
